Health champions

One trained volunteer in every club

Health champions are the link between a club and the health of the people in it, connecting players, parents and coaches to the right support and building a culture of wellbeing from the touchline up.

What a health champion does

Make every contact count

Short, ordinary conversations about health and wellbeing at training and on matchdays.

Signpost to services

Know what is available locally, from the NHS to mental health and community services, and how to reach it.

Champion healthy habits

Food, sleep, screen time and staying active in the days between sessions.

Build community

Run wellbeing sessions for young players and their families, and reduce isolation.

How it works
Step 01

Your club nominates a health champion

A parent, volunteer or committee member with an interest in health. No football or clinical expertise needed.

Step 02

They complete accredited training

An RSPH-accredited course covering practical health promotion in a sporting setting.

Step 03

They join a peer network

Champions at other clubs, sharing what works and what does not, with support from our team.

Step 04

The club becomes health-promoting

From touchline injury management to nutrition, mental health and wellbeing across the whole membership.
